Texan Pioneer derives from many crossbreed between French Mondain and a breed in which we can distinguish female and male only after a few weeks, a breed named King. This breed was created in 1953 in Texas and recognized in 1961. Texan Pioneer has an aspect which denotes alacrity and good health, it has a sturdy and elegant body and it is like King breed because even in this breed it is easy to distinguish between male and female only after a few weeks. Texan Pioneer is an earnings dove and in mature subjects the weight varies from 850 to 970 grammes. Within Allevamento Poggio di Ponte there is only one color type of Texan Pioneer. Male is completely white whereas female is white with the neck slightly red and also red wings.
MAIN FEATURES OF BREED
Head: Little, in proportion to the body, is pointed up and backwards.
Eyes: Pearl color iris. Eyes contours are flesh-colored.
Beak: Rather thin, mid-length.
Breast: Large and deep, sturdy and compact.
Back: Large, slightly inclined.
Wings: Carried on the tail and very close to the body. The front profile of the wing is totally covered by feathers of the breast.
Tail: Is about 15 cm of length, its breadth is as close as possible to that of a single feather. It is parallel to the ground and it is raised up from the ground about 10 cm.
Paws: Small, straight and in proportion to the body. They do not bestow on body a crouching position.
Plumage: Strong, tight-fitting to the body.
Coat: Male is completely white. Female can be dabbed red, barred red, soft violet, blue with bar, dabbed blue and diluted black.
