Coburg Lark is a breed which one time was widespread in Duchies of Saxony-Coburg and of Saxony-Meiningen with the name of “Mealy Country Dove”. Later this breed was refined through particular crossbreed and chose in its current form. Coburg Lark has a strong height, a vigorous appearance, a quite lengthened structure, a robust body form and an horizontal posture. In adult subjects it’s about 700 grammes and all the varieties of this breed have the traditional and subtle pastel color. Within Allevamento Poggio di Ponte, Coburg Lark is silver without bars.
MAIN FEATURES OF BREED
Head: Thin, only slightly curved.
Eyes: Intense, with yellow-red iris; contours have only one circle, they are smooth and coppery.
Beak: Long and straight. Superior mandible is lightly curved on the top with a dark nuance only in “allodolati” subjects, in all the other subjects beak must be flesh-colored. Nostrils are smooth, gently soft cream-color.
Breast: Large and a little bit prominent.
Back: Almost horizontal and large.
Wings: Long, too much large, close fitting to the body and well covering the back.
Tail: Long and close.
Paws: Medium length, without feathers, nails has a soft horn color.
Plumage: Close fitting to the body, gently soft cream-color.
Coat: “Allodolato”, silver barred dark and silver without bars.
