Mookee is a medium-small dove, the front part of the body is upright and large. The neck is curved like a “S” and it also has a thick mane. This breed is hailing from India and it is one of the oldest breeds of that country. It is extremely mild and it has an intense nature. Mookee has a typical sharp tuft. When it is excited, it quivers and has very particular and pleasant movements. Within Allevamento Poggio di Ponte, Mookee is in its black variety.
MAIN FEATURES OF THE BREED
Head: Elongated and narrow, with rounded forehead which becomes smaller coming down to the beak. Tuft shall be sharp as much as possible and it looks like a comb crossing with the thick and closed plumage of the neck. Head profile looks like a “S”.
Eyes: Big and expressive, they have dark iris. Contours are thick and they vary in color from white to pale red.
Beak: Faint, medium length. The top part is soft whereas the lower is dark in black, silver and blue subjects.
Breast: Is high, prominent and proportionally large.
Back: It forms a very inclined downwards line with the tail.
Wings: Medium length, they are slightly separated from the body at the shoulders-deep. Usually are carry on the tail, but when dove is excited they can be also next to.
Tail: Medium length, closed and it forms with the back a downwards line.
Paws: Short and without feathers. Nails color is not important.
Plumage: Well close-fitting to the body.
Coat: Black, dark brown, yellow, blue, silver, “Isabella” and totally white.
