German Modena is hailing from North of Italy and it was introduced and selected in Germany starting from the end of 1800. German Modena is the smallest of all Utility Doves. Its body parts are well rounded. Body posture is horizontal, tail is slightly higher from the ground and its height must be divided into 3 alike parts between neck and head, body and paws. Within Allevamento Poggio di Ponte, German Modena is black dabbed white.
MAIN FEATURES OF THE BREED
Head: Smooth, in proportion with the body and equally curved and rounded.
Eyes: Red-orange iris. Contours are clutched and they are dark in dark coats and soft in soft coats and they are red in white subjects which also have dark iris.
Beak: Medium length, proportionally solid, nostrils are short and flat.
Breast: Full and large, well rounded.
Back: It isn’t inclined but short, wide at shoulder-deep.
Wings: Short, well covered the back without crossing each other.
Tail: Short as much as possible, well-closed, not so large and is slightly carried on high.
Paws: Visible thighs and with tarsus without feathers. Nails color is not important.
Plumage: The area around anus is abundantly plumed. For the rest of the body, plumage is smooth and close-fitting.
Coat: There are many different coats which are divided into 3 types: the “gazzi”, the “schietti” and the “magnani”. There are unlimited nuances.
